Gosport Regatta, June 11
The New Hampshire Seacoast will come alive in early June as a fleet of racing yachts from coastal New England vie for honors in the second annual Gosport Regatta, the resurgence of a vintage sailing race around the Isles of Shoals.
The first Gosport Regatta of 1874 was sponsored by John Poor, owner of the Oceanic Hotel, and was won by the famous yacht America.
Spectators may purchase tickets in advance to board the official race day spectator boat – the M/V Thomas Laighton – at an early bird cost of $55 per person. A regatta weekend pass offering access to the captain’s reception and the spectator boat will be available at an early bird cost of $85 per person.
Star Island is the second largest of the group of nine rocky islands named the Isles of Shoals which are located nearly ten miles off the coast of Portsmouth, NH. Owned and operated by the Star Island Corporation, the island today is a religious and educational conference center. The UCC annually runs two separate weeklong Star Gathering conferences in the beginning of August. Conferences are family-oriented with youth and adult activities, delicious food, and great memories. Each Family Conference also offers a Youth Conference, which runs concurrently, for high school students with activities geared to this age group. Learn more about a Star Gathering vacation.
