Spotlight Sad news in the Star Island UCC family... Corporal Christian Scott Cotner - age 20 died Friday May 30th in Al Anabar Province, Iraq while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Corporal Cotner was born November 27th 1987 in Waterbury, CT the son of Graham and Karen (Christensen) Cotner of Waterbury. The BBQ/Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 7, 2008 has been postponed. And...Great news for families with the youngest of our Shoalers: We have just been notified by Island Registrar, Kristin Laverty, that the SIC Board of Directors has voted to eliminate room and board fees for all children aged two and under this season.  The Star Island United Church of Christ, LTD oversees 4 of the conferences over a two week period - Star Gathering 1 Family, Star Gathering 1 Youth, Star Gathering 2 Family, and Star Gathering 2 Youth – in the beginning of August. These conferences are founded on the spiritual ideals of the United Church of Christ, but you need not be a member of a UCC church to come, people representing a variety of beliefs attend these conferences every summer.
