Gosport Regatta, June 11
The New Hampshire Seacoast will come alive in early June as a fleet of racing yachts from coastal New England vie for honors in the second annual Gosport Regatta, the resurgence of a vintage sailing race around the Isles of Shoals.
The first Gosport Regatta of 1874 was sponsored by John Poor, owner of the Oceanic Hotel, and was won by the famous yacht America.
Spectators may purchase tickets in advance to board the official race day spectator boat – the M/V Thomas Laighton – at an early bird cost of $55 per person. A regatta weekend pass offering access to the captain’s reception and the spectator boat will be available at an early bird cost of $85 per person.
Are you in high school, bored of the mundane and ready to challenge yourself, your limits and meet life long friends? You are in luck, because conferences offered on Star Island are built around issues of today’s youth, geared towards promotion of self discovery and growth while simultaneously building lasting friendships. Past and present youth attendees have been changed by conferences year after year, and every summer, they come back to star. Do not miss the opportunity of a lifetime and the chance to learn about yourself, others and the ways of the world.
“I have met some of my best friends through UCC youth conferences and it has changed my life for the better in ways I never imagined it doing. I learned so much about myself, my peers and what it means to find yourself” – Hallie Pope Youth attendee 1999-2003
“UCC youth conferences have been such a powerful influence in my life and I always return from Star each year so different than the last” – Carrie Pope Youth attendee 2004-2007
